Spicy Mayo & Shoyu Poke

This super simple, quick and easy poke recipe will have your mouth watering for more!

Submitted by a Bessie customer, this poke is a great for a quick and easy meal. We've got 2 kinds of poke for you that you can throw on top of rice with your favourite poke bowl toppings. Leftovers (if there are any) can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days. This is a great way to prepare any salmon or tuna from your Bessie delivery. We used Bessie's Atlantic salmon, but you can easily swap it out for our wild caught sockeye salmon or ahi tuna. In fact, the wild caught sockeye salmon has more flavour and would make for some delicious poke! This recipe is 'made-to-taste', adjust the ingredients depending on your own preferred palette and taste as you go.


Ingredients

Spicy Mayo Poke (shown on the left)

  • 1lb of Atlantic salmon
  • 2 tbsp Japanese mayo
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1/4 - 1/2 of a White onion (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp of Green onions

Shoyu Poke (shown on the right)

  • 1lb of Atlantic salmon
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 - 1.5 tbsp High quality sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1/2 - 1 tbsp Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp Minced ginger (adjust to taste)

Steps

  1. Receive your Bessie delivery with your Atlantic salmon. Defrost your salmon in the fridge, out of it's packaging.
  2. Pat dry your salmon, remove the skin and cube. Set aside.
  3. Mix all of your ingredients together in a large bowl, except for the salmon
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust any ingredients to taste
  5. Add your salmon and toss
  6. Spoon as much as you'd like over a bowl of rice and add your favourite poke bowl toppings
  7. Enjoy!
